The Ailsa Mackinnon Community Centre was the final element of an ambitious Master Plan which began in 2008. In 2018, the process of planning for the new Master Plan began.
Roseneath Cottage, which was acquired by the College in 2016, was restored throughout 2018. Located on the corner of Ross Street and O’Connell Street, Roseneath Cottage is considered to be one of the best surviving examples of a colonial cottage exterior in the Parramatta/Cumberland area. The cottage will be officially opened in 2020.
2018-2028 Master Plan
At the beginning of the Master Plan process, key stakeholders were consulted regarding their requirements. A Sustainability Consultant was also engaged to provide a ‘Roadmap for Sustainability’ that would guide College operations, pedagogy and future building developments.
In November 2018, Mayoh Architects were appointed following a Design Competition held in October 2018. The 2018-2028 Master Plan will provide a combination of upgraded and new facilities for Teaching and Learning that are contemporary, flexible, and that facilitate the "Transforming Learning" College Framework. A variety of proposed refurbishments and new works will improve circulation and way-finding through the campus, provide new areas of open space and greenery, and enhance the historic elements of the site.
The overall Master Plan Design Concept aims to transform the campus into a "Vibrant, Dynamic and Connected Oasis of Learning." To access the Master Plan Brochure, please click here.
Previous Master Plan
The Ailsa Mackinnon Community Centre opened in February 2017. Named after Sister Ailsa Mackinnon who was Principal of the College from 1990 to 2004, the new community centre is located at the corner of O’Connell Street and Victoria Road; it features an indoor multi-purpose sports and gathering place (seating approximately 1200 people) as well as four teaching and learning spaces, a rooftop outdoor sport area and a gymnasium. Stanton Dahl Architects were the architects for the Ailsa Mackinnon Community Centre project while Reitsma Constructions Pty Limited were the builders.
The Ailsa Mackinnon Community Centre was the final element of an ambitious Master Plan which began in 2008 and saw the construction of the Janet Woods Building (featuring multiple fully equipped science labs, a new library, state of the art food technology spaces and a botany room), a new dedicated Student Centre, a Dance Studio and the purpose-built Christina Creede Music Centre.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, the Ailsa Mackinnon Community Centre Public Art Appeal has successfully raised over $8000.
